  • VARAZDIN
    Varazdin_the_old_town_(Courtesy_of_Drazen_Candrlic)A baroque town which must be visited, the former capital of Croatia (from 1756 to 1776). During 18th century several palaces were designed by the best architect of the period (e.g. Fellner and Helmer); today it is a modern town, one of the best developed cities in Croatia which attracts many people who move to live there in search of better quality of life.
  • TRAKOSCAN
    Trakoscan_castle_(Courtesy_of_Mario_Presecki)If there is a castle in Zagorje to be called "the pearl", Trakoscan is the one! Trakoscan, at the lakeshore, in the middle of forest, surrounded by meadows, on top of a hill; dominates the area as the most beautiful castle in the Northern Croatia, a truly romantic and magic place.
  • CAKOVEC
    Cakovec_(Courtesy_of_Drazen_Candrlic)The town of Čakovec was known in Roman times, but it started to develop as the center of Medimurje region in 1547, when the Subic-Zrinski family became the owner of town. The Zrinski castle (the fort) was built in the town center and today is the symbol of Cakovec, housing the Town Museum.
  • LEPOGLAVA
    The cradle of education and art; the first secular school and university in Croatia established in the 15th century.
  • Paulines Church
    The Paulines were present in Croatia since 1244 A.D. and active in public life until 1768. They were supporters of the Croatian culture and true educators. In the second half of the 17th century, the church was reconstructed several times. The most valuable part of the church are its frescos painted by Ivan Ranger.  
  • LEPOGLAVA LACE - magic of white yarn and thread
    The skill and the art making of lace was presented to Lepoglava by Paulines in the 15th century.
